We’re having a bake sale at work today for a coworker who was recently diagnosed with cancer (v. sad story – he’s only 28 he has a baby!). In just over a week one of the girls in his dept organized this huge bake sale / raffle / silent auction and has already raised over [...]

The mouse in my pocket
Posted in Domesticity, Knitting on January 27, 2009 | 4 Comments »
I started a knitting group (I actually call it a “stitch and bitch”) in my little town last summer (with the help of one of my blog readers and Ravelry) and I’ve been kinda quiet about it because I actually belong to another stitch and bitch that I helped start about 4 years ago, and [...]

I’ve been on a bit of a bread making kick this year. Last weekend I made a loaf of white bread (which turned out awesome) and some whole wheat garlic pizza dough (which turned out okay) and this weekend I wanted to make some homemade bread to bring to a friend’s fondue party on Saturday [...]

I’ve all but sworn off Christmas this year, but for some reason I cannot pass up an excuse to make Christmas cookies. I had just spent the previous weekend making 4 batches of cookies and toffee (that I had to throw out because it never congealed), but when my friend Katie (who has recently gone from [...]

Today’s progress

Sadly, this is today’s progress. It was one of those days where we (I) thought we were going to get a TON done, and then everything ended up taking longer than expected. By the time we got up, made breakfast, called around to different Lowe’s to see if they had our panels, reserved [...]
Putting the “Labor” in Labor Day

We were originally going to try and go camping this weekend, but we couldn’t decide where to go, and we didn’t want to fight the crowds or traffic, and then we found out from our neighbor that we could start building our fence sooner than previously expected. (I really don’t know the details…. [...]
