A couple weeks ago I was boasting to a friend about how few WIPs I had. And then I checked Ravelry and realized I had been delusional. I had waaaay more than I realized – and some I had even forgotten about. After I finished up my most recent knitting project, I told myself I [...]

The perfect red
Posted in Knitting, WIPs on March 18, 2009 | 5 Comments »
Ever since I finished my Just Enough Ruffles last month, I knew I wanted to knit another one. But in red. So I searched and searched and searched for the perfect red Malabrigo and I even came close to buying a couple colors (Vermillion, Amoroso, Pagoda) but none of them were “it.”
Thankfully I kept searching and found [...]
A little something

I recently got myself a little something.
And I recently started a little something. (This is NOT for me, but for a friend’s little bro.)
And I’ll hopefully be casting on for this big something very, very soon.
On Valentine’s Day

T is sick today so we’ll be spending the day curled up on the couch and I’ll be finishing up his clogs (and Valentine’s Day is usually a low-key affair around here anyway… my birthday is in three days so I’ve always considered that V-Day).
I did a little experimenting and shaped the back cuff with [...]
I knitted something ugly also

I didn’t want Misplacedpom to feel bad, so I went ahead and knitted something ugly also.
Actually, I had really high hopes for these mittens. I found the colorway after finishing up my Kolenya marathon in December, and I knew I had to knit just. one. more. pair. for me. I didn’t take a [...]
I hate it when he’s right.

I finished my first Kolenyitten tonight, tried it on, modeled it for T, and then he asked, “Isn’t that a little tight?”
UM, NO!!!!!
Yah, it totally was. I didn’t increase enough after the cuff (purposely! because these mitts run huge!) and they somehow ended up being even smaller than the last pair of Kolenyas I knit [...]
Happy Socktober!

I’ve been in a bit of a knitting slump lately, and I think it all started last month when I lost the second skein of See Jayne Knit sock yarn for this pair of socks I was working on. I’d just returned from Toronto for a friend’s wedding and I could not find that yarn [...]
So much for being organized

I was speedily knitting on my second sock last night when I ran out of yarn! The skein from See Jayne Knit is really generous (458 yds), but I wound it up into 2 balls and now I can’t find the second ball! I looked EVERYWHERE and actually called the hotel where we were staying [...]
The List

It seems that every year around this time, I sit down and make a list of the things I want to knit in the coming months.
I have this vision that I’ll spend every evening snuggled on the couch, next to the fire, knitting speedily away on my projects, and that by the end of the [...]
There has been knitting

Things have been hectic and quiet around here lately (but not necessarily peaceful — I’ve just become a bit of a recluse these past few weeks), so I’ve been trying to distract myself with knitting. Lots of knitting.
First up, I finished my basic socks!
These were knit with Socks that Rock (Lightweight) in January One. There [...]
