Is it a top down? I would have started the ribbing at the top of my jeans. Blocking and gentle stretching to shape might help. Have to say, this is the precise reason I prefer seamless, in the round patterns-- top down, ideally. If you don't love it & don't think you can fix it enough to love it... then you know the answer.
