I’m 29 years old and live in Edmonds, Washington with my boyfriend (“T”) and our cat, Trixie. I grew up in the Chicago suburbs, went to school in the city, then lived in Madison, WI for a year, but I always dreamed of living in the Pacific Northwest…. Something about the mountains, lakes, forests, ocean, creeks, and fresh air really appealed to me! So on September 10, 2001, I packed up my car and moved out here.

Those first few months were a little rough. I didn’t have a job, the economy was shaky, no one was hiring, and I had A LOT of free time on my hands. So I decided to pick up knitting again to pass the time. My grandmother had originally taught me how to knit when I was 11 (I made a little shawl for my Barbie doll), and I remembered liking it, so I dug up some old knitting needles and yarn she’d given me, and I re-taught myself how to knit using a book she’d given me called “Teach Yourself to Knit the Columbia-Minervia Way” and knit myself a long, acrylic garter stitch scarf. I soon realized that I LOVED knitting, and I was obsessed almost immediately.

Once I found a job, I started bringing my knitting to work, and I found that a lot of women I worked with were interested in knitting too! So in January 2004 we started a monthly Stitch ‘n Bitch. Every month we trade off meeting at someone’s house and now we have about 20 regular members.

When I’m not knitting, I also enjoy reading, cooking, baking, sewing, hiking, camping, canoeing, and napping…. and taking photos of our cat.

It was a good time to be driving cross country. All hell was breaking loose in the skies and Daddy’s Little Girl was safely driving to Seattle with Computer Mike. I hope that she posts a pic of the GPS display screen/digital photo scanner that Mike hooked up in her Honda.
