An update

I’ve been feeling a bit over-extended, and over-burdened, lately and I completely let my blog fall by the wayside. I pretty much took an internet hiatus there for a while, staying off Ravelry, Flickr, and Facebook. But now I’m back. And recommitted to blogging. Because it still has its place. And it’s mine. So, let’s get caught up, shall we?!

First, I’ve been doing a bit of baking.

And knitting.

I made this dress for my friend’s little girl. My friend is a knitter, but she hasn’t been knitting much since her daughter was born. A couple months ago she casually asked if maybe I could knit her daughter something, so she would have some handknits, and how could I not oblige?

Her mama loves blue, so I chose this beautiful dark teal Cascade 220 and knit it up in just a few days (and the 12mo size takes exactly 1 skein!).

I should’ve knit it a smidge longer, though — I had no idea Baby E was so tall! Her mama is calling it a “Brady Bunch dress” because it barely covers her bum. But it looks too cute with tights or leggings. (I feel like I have to say this… This was not an “outfit” in the photos, my friend she just threw the dress over what she was wearing that day.)

And I might as well save the biggest update for last. I’m getting laid off! And so is my boyfriend, T! At first it was a bit of a shock, and then I was really sad (I’ve worked here for over 7 years, met my boyfriend here, and I’ve made a lot of great friends here), but I feel like I’ve moved along the 7 stages of grief to acceptance. It’s time to move on (and has been for a while) and I’m excited for the next opportunity! Luckily they’re not letting us go until July, so we have a bit of time to look for new work, adjust, and decide what’s “next.” I’ve been tossing around a few ideas but still haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up. I’m also honestly looking forward to having a few weeks off this summer.

If you’re still out there – thanks for reading! I promise the next update won’t be too far off.

Heard through the B-vine that this was happening. So sorry! Hope you don’t have to move to far!

That little girl is absolutely adorable! And I should know, right?! 😉 I’m kind of mia on my knitting blog right now, too– I don’t want to post until that st-o-o-o-o-o-o-pid vest is done! Remind me to never knit anything in pieces again. Doh.

The dress is cute, but I’m completely riveted by the potato chip cookies – brilliant!
